And it’s not just a one-time act. We have to kill that pharaoh every day. The struggle continues, so we continue. Or else we give up, whine that it’s too hard, become the complaining Israelite, and thereby degrade the atoning death of the Messiah.

It really hits you between the eyes that Jesus becoming a glutton, lazy person, coward or religious person is equal with his being a serial killer. I also like the Magician’s Nephew quote. Great stuff!

Great insight. To see ourselves as Israelites and Pharoahs is helpful. We usually tend to only see ourselves as the Israelites that were freed, not the pharoah whose heart was so hard. Provoking post.

Only through the grace of God and the work of the Holy Spirit can we kill the little pharaoh inside us all, but it has to be done. We have to die to ourself to live for Christ.
