Breaking Free Sermon Series

breaking-freeMarch 22nd we will begin a new sermon series entitled Breaking Free.

Breaking Free is a series for people who struggle with patterns of sinful behavior that seem to have their number. You may have tried over and over again to get free of rotten behavior in your life, but so far, you have been largely unsuccessful. You live with a guilty conscience about the things you are mastered by, and you hate how you feel when you give in, but seem unable to stop the recurring madness.

The Bible tells us the sacrifice that Jesus made 2000 years ago was effective in not only removing the penalty of our sins, which is eternal death, but also in crushing the power of sin that seems to keep us in bondage. People who come to Jesus in faith, have been freed from sin, pure and simple, but it is for us to appreciate and understand the depth of Christ’s suffering and the power that His resurrection provides so that we can experience the already purchased freedom from sin.

The Breaking Free series will deal with issues such as lust, and the perversions that enter our lives because of it. We’ll also be looking at anger, bitterness, envy, jealousy, anxiety, worry and insecurity. These are all issues that spiritually cripple many people from being what God desires them to be. We will directly apply the truth of the gospel of Jesus to each of these issues and see how the cross and resurrection are able to liberate us from these crushing patterns of sin in our lives.  We hope that you’ll join with us as we seek to kill these sins in our lives with the gospel, so that we might live in a manner that is pleasing to God.

Welcome to The Journey

We are a new church plant on the west side of Atlanta in the Austell and Mableton area. At the Journey, we are trying to re-form the church around the teachings and example of Jesus Himself while building relational bridges to people in the current culture. Out with the self-righteous, judgmental attitudes and the useless religious traditionalism, and in with the fresh wind of the timeless teachings of love and forgiveness, acceptance and repentance.
