The Blueprint for Missional Living.
The Colossians series is going to be an intense exploration of what it means to advance the gospel. Jesus is the sovereign of this kingdom and the story of his life and work is the substance of the gospel. Rightly understood, the gospel compells us to seek to extend the reign of Christ into every corner of the globe, as well as every corner of our hearts. We are gospel missionaries who are being transformed by the gospel to extend the fame of Jesus through the gospel. When we live rightly, we are demonstrating the gospel’s power to shape how we work, how we relate to our families, and how we relate to non-christians. Come see what Journey life is about as we study this great book together.
In these 3 messages on prayer, pastor Jason talks about some of the reasons why many of our prayers do not seem to get answered, why our devotional lives often remain shallow, and what it will take for us to become a people of prayer.
This section contains those sermons that do not belong to a sermon series. Whether they are from a guest speaker or a special occasion you will find them here.
In the “Who is God” series, pastor Jason paints a biblical portrait of God that is worthy of our reverence and worship. In an attempt to convince people that only God can quench our ultimate thirst, He deals with the subjects of God’s glory, his holiness, his love and his power. In this series, the triune God is on display for our consideration and appreciation.
Breaking Free is a series that speaks to the person who struggles with patterns of sinful behavior(s). Many people have tried to overcome these spiritual obstacles, but have been unsuccessful. These sins master many people and cause them to live with a guilty conscience. We will be looking at scriptural guidance and practical application to breaking these chains of sinful oppression.
The Ancient-Modern Church series explores the genius of the Holy Spirit in designing the early church to live in community as it sought to live out the mission of Jesus Christ. Though the context is two thousand years old, the concepts and practices are all still very relevant. It also underscores the great importance of Journey Life Groups.
Understanding our responsibilities and liberties as Christian is important. The bible is clear in many areas yet vague in others. How do we know what’s ok and what’s not? How do our personal convictions play into the picture? How do we balance our liberties while living missionally? These questions and others are addressed in this series.
Jesus never promised an easy life. Actually he said just the opposite is true if you choose to follow Him. It’s not the problems in our lives that define us, it’s how we respond to them. Pastor Jason gives clear biblical guidelines on how to respond to adversity in you life. He shares how he has dealt with adversity in his own life as well.
The Bible is the story of how God rescued us from our sin in order to restore us to relationship with Himself. The entirety of the text carries an underlying story of sacrifice, salvation, redemption, and grace. The Hero of the story saves us from sin and death and gives an eternal relationship with God our creator. Jesus is the hero of this story and the Epic series is an attempt to tell that story in a way that spotlights His heroic efforts.
In this series, we explore one of the major obstacles to a true heart of mission. Pride is a devastating vine that strangles mission through the work of resulting prejudices. Jonah was sent by God on a mission that confronted his prejudice and rather than following God’s lead with a genuinely willing heart, He chose to run and ultimately refuse genuine heart change. He is a great example to us of what happens when grace is not understood and cherished.
